GUI Text option in GameObject doesn't appear

In the GameObject option in Unity, there should be a GUI Text option (from what i've seen in videos); but in my Unity that option doesn't even exist. I tried to open example proyects and played them: everything works but the only thing that doesn't is the GUI text on the screen. Someone help me please? Thanks.
