Inconsistant texture scale

I have a material to be used on many different objects. Despite all these objects having the same scale, the texture is appearing at different scales (I'm guessing according to the absolute size of the mesh)

Changing the material tiling doesn't work because all the objects use the same material and then the problem persists, just at a different scale.

Is there a way to make a texture obey some kind of global scale?

Or do I have to create a separate material for each potential size of object?
