Customizing the editor by removing menus?

I know that it is possible to extend the editor by adding menu's and menu-items.
Is it also possible to remove Menu's. For example, to remove the "Terrain" menu completely from the editor?
For my purpose, i would like to set the editor in a mode where al irrelevant menu's are hidden or removed.
Or is there a configuration file that specifies the "default editor" appearance?
