Need Simple Touch Controls

Hey all!

I've looked all over the internet and can't seem to find something similar to what I need. All the tutorials out there are way above my skill level and I can't follow them anyway.

I have a cube that I want to move left and right using AddForce, but I can't figure out how to use touch controls to make it so the right side of the screen moves the cube right and the left side of the screen moves left.

I've tried UI buttons, but apparently those you can't hold down. I'm sure there's...

Debugging UWP crash on certain PCs

Hi,

We've released a UWP game which works well on the majority of PC's but we've had some bad reviews because it crashes on certain devices. Unfortunately it seems to crash before any logs can be output - the window just opens briefly and then closes. If no logs are being created does that indicate that it would be a Unity issue rather than a scripting one? Does anyone have any ideas on the best way to track that down?

Hello fellow developers,

you must have all have heard the news: Unity 5.6 includes support for Nintendo Switch export, excellent!. The info has been going around quite a lot. Yet, the steps to go through if you actually want to make some test applications seem extremely unclear and I am hoping this thread will gather some info about this.

First of, why does the Nintendo Developer Portal doesn't make any mention of a potential Switch dev kit? Only 3DS and Wii U...

My device asks me if I allow notifications, but even though I click "accept", the app still doesn't display notifications a minute after I startup the app.

Is there a certain Xcode/Unity Player Preferences setting I have to do in order to make notifications work, or...?

Edit: I've turned Notifications on in Xcode, btw.

iOS App Still Pauses with Custom Behavior in Background

I have a voice recording iOS App. In Player Settings, Behavior in Background is set to Custom, with "Audio, Airplay, PiP" and "Remote Notifications" set to True. However, whenever I press the home button, the app pauses! How do I know it pauses? I have a timer in my app, and when I come back the timer is the same as when I left it.

This means that the app is still pausing. Am I supposed to also code something to make it continue to run/record audio/run the timer?

Creating a stop motion animation from .obj files

Hello,

I have a bunch (around 100) .obj files where each represents one frame of the animation. Currently I am importing them into individual object, and using a script to enable only the one corresponding to the time. Is there a practical way and less performance intensive way to do this?

Preferably the import process should also be automated (e.g. the .obj files are named frame01.obj, frame02.obj etc., I should be able to import all of them in several clicks).

Unity 5.6 crashing when I hit play!

I just updated to Unity 5.6.0f3 and cannot run the game in editor without a hard crash.
I have the latest Oculus utilities, but this also happened before. I'm developing for GearVR/Android but use the editor to test my game on the Rift. I also notice I cannot check or uncheck "virtual reality supported " but when I do press it debug output says VR enabled, even though it already was. It stays checked no matter how much I click it.
